Hronský Beňadik monastery
The Monastery in Hronský Beňadik, located in the picturesque landscape of the River Hron valley and surrounded by the Štiavnické vrchy Mountains, ranks among the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Slovakia. Its origins date back to the 11th century when Benedictine monks settled in the monastery during the reign of King Géza I of Hungary. Géza I endowed the monastery in Hronský Beňadik with extensive property rights. As a result, the monastery became one of the grandest and richest religious institutions in the medieval kingdom of Hungary.
