Skalka monastery
Nowadays the Monastery is used for the occasion of the annual pilgrimage held during the weekend following the feast days of Sts Andrew Svorad and Benedict of Skalka on July 17; also a symposium of art and literature: Ora et Ars; a Catholic pilgrimage conference: Nové svitanie (New Dawning) and other cultural-spiritual events take place on the site.

Bus service from Trenčín
- the bus stop is by the church in Malá Skalka, a 1 km walk to the monastery down the road No. 507 or take the forest fact-finding nature trail “The Benedictines Trails,” offering a view of the River Váh valley

Parking by the Church in Malá Skalka – room for about 20 cars
Parking by the Monastery in Veľká Skalka – room for about 15 cars
By foot – about one and a half hrs from the railway station in Trenčín

Opening hours for the Veľká Skalka Monastery
May, September – at weekends and during public holidays 10:00 – 17:00
June – August – every day except Monday 10:00 – 17:00
Admission: voluntary contribution
The site of Nová Skalka with its Stations of the Cross is freely accessible all year round.

Wheelchair access only to the Church in Malá Skalka.
Families with children up to 5 years of age are recommended to take a half-day trip, park your car at Malá Skalka, take a walk along the forest fact-finding nature trail to the Veľká Skalka monastery, a tour of the monastery, along the Váh back to Malá Skalka. On the way back, there are barbecue opportunities.
